While Joe Biden was busy making the White House his own last night, Tom Hanks hosted a 90 minute TV special to celebrate the inauguration of our 46th President. Countless celebrities, icons, and heroes were in attendance, so let's break down the highlights from last night's inauguration event.
John Legend Goes Old School
"All of Me" vocalist and Chrissy Teigen's husband John Legend delivered a triumphant big band arrangement of Nina Simone's classic "Feeling Good" on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial Last Night. Above, you can find the full arrangement, posted to Legend's Instagram.
Demi Lovato Pays Homage to Healthcare Workers
Demi Lovato delivered a thundering rendition of Bill Withers "Lovely Day" accompanied by a chorus of healthcare workers in their scrubs and uniforms, while the President, along with wife Dr Jill Biden, watched from the Oval Office. Lovato's performance was virtual and live streamed from Los Angeles.

Echoing his sentiment from the Inaugural Address, President Biden and Vice President Harris called for unity, and for the country to "come together in the common love that defines us as Americans", a sentiment reinforced by a subsequent performance from prominent country band Florida Georgia Line.
Tom Hanks was Tom Hanks
We are excited to kick off our Celebrating America program tonight, hosted by @TomHanks! https://t.co/lYWfAkDUtB— Biden Inaugural Committee (@Biden Inaugural Committee) 1611193705
Tom Hanks, reinforcing his role as America's caregiver and uncle, did an amazing job of covering the events. The star delivered his own message on unity and the importance of our democracy.
Katy Perry Closed Things With a Bang
Or should I say a firework?
While that joke was terrible, Katy Perry put a cap on the evening with an awe inspiring performance of her classic song "Firework" accompanied by actual fireworks going off behind the Washington Monument, which my friends report kept them up all night.
