The Ratings For Oprah's Interview With Harry And Meghan Are In

Oprah's interview with #MeghanMarkle and #PrinceHarry pulled impressive ratings.

Oprah Winfrey had an earth-shattering interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Sunday night, in an event that revealed racism, bullying from tabloids, and mental health crises from the royal family. The Nielsen company has released the ratings for the interview as of this morning.

Over 17 Million People Watched

Around 17 million people watched the full, live, 2 hour interview, which in the world of streaming television, is a massive number. For context, 29 million people watched the royal wedding, and 28 million watched Oprah's similarly world destroying interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong back in 2013.

While that 17 million figure is smaller than the other two, in a world where people can watch anything on YouTube after the fact, and TV ratings declining across the board, this is a big, big number.

CBS also reportedly shelled out around $7 million for the rights to the program, with 30-second commercials being sold off at $325,000 apiece.
