The Original Broadway Cast of ‘Hamilton’ Reunites for Biden Fundraiser

Many of Hamilton's original stars are set to reunite on October 16 for a virtual fundraiser.

Hamilton's original cast is headlining a virtual fundraising for the Biden Victory Fund this Friday, October 16th at 9 PM eastern time.

Hamilton was the smash broadway hit musical of 2016; it received a record-breaking 16 Tony Award nominations, winning 11. The historical musical follows the journey of American founding father, Alexander Hamilton and his peers, but tells a profoundly modern and relevant story.

Its original broadway cast received national and global fame, and although they have all left the Richard Rodgers Theatre for other film, television, and stage productions, they are creating a longed for reunion to support presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created the show and played Alexander Hamilton is set to appear alongside Leslie Odom Jr. (who played Aaron Burr), Daveed Diggs (who played Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson), Renée Elise Goldsberry (who played Angelica Schuyler), Jonathan Groff (who played King George), Christopher Jackson (who played George Washington), Phillipa Soo (who played Elizabeth Schuyler), Okierete Onaodowan (who played Hercules Mulligan and James Madison), and Javier Muñoz (who was an alternate for Hamilton and took on the lead role after Miranda left).

Miranda, Odom, Diggs, and Goldsberry all won Tony Awards; In addition, Soo, Jackson, and Groff were also nominated.

Tony winner Thomas Kail, who directed the musical, will also appear for a Q&A with the cast and subsequent performance.

The virtual event will be available to anyone who donates any amount to Biden's presidential campaign here. The show, in some ways, has roots with Joe Biden, as Lin-Manuel Miranda first performed an early version of the show's opening number at the White House in 2009. The cast also performed multiple of the show's hit songs at the White House in 2016 for the Obama administration.

If you can't wait to see the talented cast in action again, make sure to check out another Broadway show's Biden fundraiser: Jagged Little Pill will be performing with Alanis Morissete today, October 13, at 8 PM eastern time!
