The 32nd GLAAD Media Awards ceremony will virtually stream live on the GLAAD YouTube channel on Thursday, April 8.

It is time for another awards ceremony to be announced!


The GLAAD Media Awards will be virtual this year and will stream live off of GLAAD YouTube Channel Thursday, April 8th at 8 p.m. ET. Additionally, the ceremony will also stream on Hulu later that evening at 10 p.m. ET.

Niecy Nash, Emmy-winning producer and three-time-nominated actress, was announced to host the virtual ceremony as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

"I am so thrilled to be hosting this year's GLAAD Media Awards, honoring the LGBTQ stories and images that change the world by growing acceptance and understanding," said Niecy Nash in a press release. "My wife Jessica and I are still thriving in newlywed bliss, and I'm looking forward to bringing that love and joy to GLAAD's biggest night. Be ready for a surprise or two!"

Niecy Nash is no stranger to the award show environment as she has won multiple Emmys in her career. she held roles in HBO's Getting On, giving her two Emmy nominations, a Netflix series When They See Us, earning her another Emmy nomination. she has also been seen in Scream Queens, Masters of Sex, and The Soul man.

This year there are 198 nominees announced in 28 categories for the largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, increasing many media categories from five to 10 nominees adding more diversity and inclusion across the genres.

The GLAAD Media Awards are known for their efforts in honoring the media for "fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues." Since 1990, they have grown to be the biggest LGBTQ awards show in the world.

This years show will be partnering up with TikTok with the segment named "TikTok Queer Advocate of the Year." It's showcasing the video makers who have brought their LGBTQ views to the surface. Some of the creators nominated for recognition include: Denise & Ebony (@team2moms), Kyne (@onlinekyne), Crissa Jackson (@crissa_ace), Chris Olsen (@olsennchris), Ian Paget (@ianpaget_), Josh Helfgott (@joshhelfgott), Ve'ondre Mitchell (@veondre), Austin Chiang, MD MPH (@austinchiangmd), and Christine Marshall (@chrissycanthearyou).

Fans can vote for these TikTokers on www.glaad.org/tiktok. The winner will be announced the night of the event!

As their incentive is always inclusion, the GLAAD Media Awards are recognizing eight media projects that did not fit into the competitive award categories. The projects include After Forever by Amazon, Deadline's New Hollywood Podcast, Happiest Season Soundtrack Noah's Arc: The 'Rona Chronicles by Patrik Ian-Polk Entertainment, Out by Pixar/Disney+, Razor Tongue from YouTube, "The Son" Little America on Apple TV+, and Jesse & Joy's "Love (Es Nuestro Idioma)."
