Ellen DeGeneres and Wife Portia de Rossi Purchase $49 Million Cape Dutch-Style Montecito Estate

Portia de Rossi

The stars purchased the estate from political commentator and SNL alum Dennis Miller.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are new homeowners! The spouses of 12 years purchased a new Montecito compound back in late September and you'll never guess who sold it to them.

According to Variety, SNL alum and political commentator Dennis Miller and his wife and former model Slim Paley made an off-market deal with the daytime television host. This property is of the most expensive ever inked in the Santa Barbara County community at $49 million. In fact, it is only behind the $63.3 million 237-acre Montecito ranch purchased by Riley Bechtel, followed by Oprah Winfrey's $50 million 60-acre "Promised Land" fiefdom. Miller and Paley were homeowners of the beautiful mega-estate beginning in 2006. Now, DeGeneres and Rossi are marking their territory in the pricey property.

The previous homeowners of the Cape Dutch-style Montecito property have a publicized affinity for and history of buying and selling some of Santa Barbara's most expensive homes.

Varietymentions:

"It's a fairytale-like confection of an estate that more closely resembles a small village than an ordinary home. The sprawling property sits behind walls and tall gates and comprises five separate structures."

The five features include a guesthouse, a detached garage building, a poolhouse, a barn designed by architect Tom Kundig and a 9,000-square-foot main mansion specialized in a South African Cape Dutch architectural style.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show star and her wife also own a condo elsewhere in Montecito, along with a $42.5 million Beverly Hills mansion sold to them by superstar Adam Levine.

Congratulations to the famous couple on their purchase!
