It is difficult to imagine a Scream movie without Courteney Cox playing Gale Weathers and now no one needs to! It was recently announced that Cox will be returning for the role in the newest installment of the franchise.
Cox confirmed the news with an Instagram post and fans were more than excited for Gale's return. Spyglass Media Group and Paramount have also announced that filming is expected to begin filming later in 2020. Although no information regarding the new plot has been released, fans did get some intel on the cast and crew. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will both co-directing, David Arquette will be returning to star as Sheriff Dewey Riley, and James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick will be co-writing the film.
Radio Silence spoke to Deadline about their excitement regarding Cox returning to Scream:
"We can't imagine 'Scream' without the iconic Gale Weathers and are so incredibly thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Courteney. We're absolute mega fans of her work and we're so excited to join her in the next chapter of the 'Scream' saga."
