The 2019 Emmys Brought out the Best in Hollywood to Celebrate an Epic Year of TV
From outgoing giants like Game of Thrones to newcomers like Fleabag, the 2019 Emmys had it all. The hostless event had many firsts, and there was no shortage of amazing looks and beautiful acceptance speeches.
Amazon's Fleabag Cleans Up
Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Fleabag surprised many by taking home SIX Emmys in total this year. Phoebe won for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and Harry Bradbeer won for Director in Comedy Series. The show is on Prime Video and available to stream now!
Game of Throne's Night Was Hardly Dark and Full of Terrors
Another big win went to Julia Garner, who brought home the award for Supporting Actress in Drama Series beating out Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Gwendoline Christie, and Lena Headey along with Killing Eve's Fiona Shaw. Despite the controversial final season, Game of Thrones took home 12 Emmys including Best Drama Series, and Peter Dinklage won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as fan favorite Tyrion.
Pose for your EGOT!
Having already won a Tony and a Grammy, Billy Porter finally won his first Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The Pose star is the first openly gay black man to win an Emmy. The crowd erupted as Porter walked to the stage, and rightfully so! Now, Porter just has to win an Oscar to achieve EGOT status. Until then, Porter took the time to spread love, thank those close to him, and advocate for change:

A Night of Empowerment and Equality
Another big moment came when Fosse/Verdon star Michelle Williams won the award for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. This was a big win for the star, as she was going up against some of Hollywood's best actresses including Niecy Nash, Patricia Arquette, Amy Adams, Joey King, and Aunjanue Ellis. During her acceptance speech, Williams advocated for gender equality and empowering women and girls everywhere:
