The tidal wave of superhero movies isn't slowing down! It's been hit-after-hit in 2018 from Black Panther, to Avengers: Infinity War, to Deadpool 2, and Incredibles 2, and the next super-film flying into theaters is Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Superhero Movie Slate for 2018
Paul Rudd's Ant-Man might feel pint-sized next to the colossal Infinity War, but Marvel aims to please and rarely misses, especially when it comes to the comedic side of super heroics. The first Ant-Man teased us with the Wasp, but Evangeline Lily finally suits up in Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6th.
If you're looking for something a little more chilling, fear not! Venom is set for an October 5th premiere and promises a much darker tone when Tom Hardly slips into the iconic Spider-Man villain's nightmare-inducing skin.
Of course, Venom isn't the only Spider-Man Universe movie crawling into theaters this year. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse takes a decidedly different swing with a dazzling, animated interpretation of the alternate Ultimate universe hero, Miles Morales. Fans of original Spider-Man Peter Parker needn't worry, as he, and possibly many other Spider-people will make appearances in this multi-verse mashing story on December 14.
Closing out the year is DC Comics' next solo super film with Jason Momoa set to make a splash in Aquaman on December 21. After a cameo in Batman v. Superman, the character surfed into the spotlight in Justice League. Since then, fans and critics alike have held their breath waiting to see out if the heir to Atlantis sinks or swims. Will the film meet Wonder Woman's gold standard, or will audiences disappear like an invisible jet?
Superhero Movie Slate for 2019
Naturally, a whole new set of movies are set to save the fate of the universe in 2019. Brie Larson's Captain Marvel was teased in Avengers: Infinity War, and is set to swoop into action on March 8. She will pave the wave for the highly-anticipated conclusion to Infinity War in May 3rd's Avengers sequel. Picking up the pieces will be Tom Holland's friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man: Far from Home on July 7th.
Outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we can look forward to the Hellboy reboot, starring Stranger Things' David Harbour on January 11th, X-Men: Dark Phoenix on February 14th, another X-Universe movie, New Mutants, on August 2nd, and director Patty Jenkins' highly anticipated Wonder Woman: 1984 on November 1, 2019.
