Chris Rock Disparages Meghan Markle's Racism Claims Against Royal Family

"Some of that sh*t she went through was not racism. Sometimes it's just some in-law sh*t," Rock said of Markle in his Netflix special Selective Outrage.

In his newest comedy special, Chris Rock fired shots at several targets, including Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle for her claims of racism against the Royal Family.

Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, famously revealed to Oprah Winfrey that her son Archie, now 3-years-old, was being denied a royal title, and was therefore prevented from receiving official security. Markle believed the reasoning to be her son's race, as she also claimed that members of Harry's family had been speculating on "how dark his skin might be when he's born."

In Selective Outrage, which aired live Saturday on Netflix, Rock denied the notion that the speculation was racist, beginning his speech on Markle by saying, "Everyone is trying to be the victim, including people who know god damn well they're not victims."

"Some of that sh*t she went through was not racism. Sometimes it's just some in-law sh*t," he said, adding, "Because she's complaining, I'm like, 'What the f**k is she talking about?'" he said. "'They're so racist, they wanted to know how brown the baby was going to be.' I'm like, 'That's not racist,' cause even Black people want to know how brown the baby gon' be. Sh*t. We check behind them ears."

Markle also alleged that she was discouraged from seeking mental health treatment due to public image concerns, and that she did not receive royal support in refuting tabloid stories, many of which contained prejudice against Markle. The Duchess said that she had received some such prejudice from members of the Royal Family.

Though Markle's Oprah interview aired two years ago, she has become the recent target of comedians. She was portrayed on a recent episode of South Park, which slammed her decision to come forward with the allegations as attention-seeking. While Rock did not deny all claims of royal racism, he also criticized Markle's response to it.

"Acting all dumb like she didn't know nothing. Going on Oprah, 'I didn't know, I had no idea how racist they were.' It's the royal family! You didn't Google those motherf***ers? What the f**k is she talking about, she didn't know?" Rock asked, adding, "It's the royal family, they're the original racists. They invented colonialism. They're the OGs of racism. They're the Sugarhill Gang of racism."

The comic noted that he understood her "dilemma" as a "Black girl trying to be accepted by her white in-laws," saying that she "seems like a nice lady, just complaining."

While Markle was reportedly unhappy with her portrayal on South Park, she and her husband have yet to respond to Rock's recent special.
