Star Chris Evans comments on the future of representation in movies after a same-sex kiss was revealed in the new Buzz Lightyear movie.

Chris Evans recently opened up about representation in the upcoming animated film “Lightyear.”

“Lightyear” is a “Toy Story” spin-off following Buzz Lightyear. This Buzz Lightyear, voiced by Chris Evans, will explore an adventure on a space mission.

“Lightyear” will not, however, be approved by the United Arab Emirates. The movie has been banned for showing a kiss between two people of the same sex. For this reason, fourteen Middle Eastern and Asian countries will not be showing this movie.

Not limited to foreign backlash, Americans who are in support and pushing "Florida’s Don’t Say Gay" were appalled by Disney’s decision to include the klss.

Chris Evans had said in response to the hate surrounding this movie moment,

“There's always going to be people who are afraid and unaware and trying to hold on to what was before, but those people die off like dinosaurs.”

The Captain America actor proclaimed to Variety,

“It's tough to not be a little frustrated that it even has to be a topic of discussion. That it is this kind of 'news.' The goal is that we can get to a point where it is the norm and that this doesn't have to be some uncharted waters, that eventually this is just the way it is. That representation across the board is how we make films.

Evans added,

"It's an honor to be a part of something that is taking those steps, but the goal is to look back on this time and just be shocked that it took us this long to get there.”

Lightyear will hit theaters June 17.
