We are in the thick of award season as this weekend will mark the 93rd annual Academy Awards.
The late Chadwick Boseman is a favorite to win this years Best Actor award at the Oscars for his performance in the Netflix film Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. This movie has given him multiple awards this season and capping it off with an Academy Award would cement his legacy even further.
Boseman had died in August 2020 after a long battle with colon cancer. His wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, has been by his side accepting every award this year for him as he has won over nine awards across platforms for his performances in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Black Panther and Da 5 Bloods.
As most of his winnings this year come from Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, the director, George C. Wolfe, of the film couldn't say more nice things about Boseman and his connection to his work. "He met the words and the spirit of the story, the stakes of the story totally entered his body," Wolfe said.
The 43-year-old left an impression on everyone he met in the industry especially during the making of his Netflix film.
"Im happy that I got to be apart of sharing his genius with the world. He is a man among men in my opinion," Producer, Denzel Washington said.
