Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama

Yesterday's Golden Globes featured many historic moments including the honor of Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama awarded to the late Chadwick Boseman for his role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020).

Since his passing in August 2020, Boseman has won a New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Da 5 Bloods (2020), Satellite Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Da 5 Bloods, and a Gotham Film Tribute Award.

Marriage to Taylor Simone Ledward

Taylor Simone Ledward and Boseman had been together for about five years and married for less than one before the actor's tragic passing of colon cancer. In January 2021, the musician accepted the Gotham Film Tribute Award on behalf of Boseman highlighting his impact on the industry in its entirety.

Ledward Gives A Touching Speech

Awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, Boseman's honor was accepted by Ledward who thanked his parents, idols, co-workers, and God on behalf of Boseman. Ledward reminds the audience that his biggest cause was to remind individuals that they can do it and to keep going.

Ledward ended her moving heartfelt speech with,

"And I don't have his words, but we have to take a moment to celebrate those we love. So thank you HFPA for this opportunity to do exactly that. And, hun, you keep 'em coming. Thank you."
