Celine Dion performed 1100 shows in Las Vegas over the course of 16 years. Many warned her not to perform in Las Vegas, but she continued to do so, breaking records along the way.
Celine Dion performed her last show at her Caesars Palace residency and debuted Flying on My Own, a song from her upcoming album Courage. She is not stopping at the album, however, because she is set to embark on a new world tour in September. Celine is sad to leave the Vegas Strip, but she is happy to move on to new projects.
“We're going to have something...very special for the fans,” Celine Dion explains regarding the world tour.
She is looking to the future, but clearly has not forgotten about her past. Dion will remember good moments throughout her career in Vegas as she continues her journey.
When asked about gratitude for her experiences, Celine Dion confidently comments, "I feel blessed...Truly blessed."
Despite the well-intentioned warnings, the “advice” she received was misguided. Not only was her decision to perform in Las Vegas not a career-killer, but it actually solidified her standing as one of the greats. Her work influenced the music industry and set a precedent for artists like Elton John, Cher, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, and more to come to Las Vegas.
