Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's music video for their single "WAP" dropped last night and the collab is dominating social media as we speak.
After a nine month hiatus, Cardi is back and better than ever. Joined by Megan, the two female rappers teamed up with director Collin Tilley to create this hot and sensual masterpiece. The two are seen in iconic outfits such as the pink and yellow bodysuits, with long trains and gloves. The video also includes snakes and large cats surrounding the rappers while they dance in an indoor pool.
WAP is expected to be to be on Cardi's next album, following her Grammy winning debut album in 2018. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music's New Music Daily, Cardi commented on her thoughts of the release:
"When you don't put out music in nine months, people on social media will make you feel like you're doing something bad or like you went away or this and that, Like, they will make you feel really down, like you ain't s–t. … It just really meant a lot for everybody to be in this video. Like, this is a big, important video for me. It's a big, important song. I feel like I'm back in 2017 'cause I haven't put out a song in a long time. So, I feel like I'm rebirthing myself or something."
In addition to Cardi and Meg, the video features surpise celebrity cameos. Stars such as Normani, Rosalía, Mulatto, Rubi Rose, and most talked about, Kylie Jenner. Jenner stole the show by strutting down the hallway in a leopard print bodysuit with matching gloves and boots.
In the interview with Lowe, Cardi continues on by mentioning how she wanted to feature a variety of women, not just rappers:
"I feel like people be wanting to put female artists against each other. It's the people that be trying to do that. Every single time I feel like there's a female artist that's coming up, coming up, coming up and getting their mainstream moment, I always see little, slick comments like, 'Oh, they taking over your spot. They taking over this, they taking over that.' And it just makes me feel like, 'Damn, why it had to be like that?' Because I actually like shorty's music a lot."
