Cardi B Set To Host The 2021 American Music Awards

Cardi B

The AMAs are getting closer and MRC Live & Alternative announced, along with ABC, that global superstar Cardi B is going to host the event this year.

Cardi B is going to host the 2021 American Music Awards for the first time and fans are already losing it. In a released statement, the rapper said she was incredibly honored and excited for the opportunity:

"I'm ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage! Thank you to Jesse Collins, ABC and MRC for making this happen."

Although this will be the first time as host, the five-time AMA winner is pretty familiar with the music event.

She indeed performed her hit "I Like It" in 2018 with J Balvin and Bad Bunny and made history during her last AMAs appearance, becoming the first female rapper to win Favorite Hip-Hop Song twice.

In an Instagram video, Cardi B celebrated the news with the following caption:

"I'm so proud to announce, I'll be hosting the 2021 @AMAs! Tune in November 21 8/7c on @ABCnetwork"

Several images of the singer during past AMAs could be seen, as well as snippets of her iconic speeches.

But now the rapper will be officially on the other side, joining a long list of global superstars who have hosted the AMAs in the past such as Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Murphy, Britney Spear, Jimmy Kimmel and Aretha Franklin to name a few.

As a reminder, Ariana Grande, BTS, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd are the artists that compete for the biggest award of the night, which is Artist of the Year.

If you want to witness Cardi B's host debut at the AMAs, tune in on Sunday, November 21st at 8/7c on ABC. The event will also be available for streaming the next day on Hulu.
