Busy Philipps and Birdie

Busy Philipps, star of the new Peacock musical comedy series Girls5Eva, praises her oldest child, 12-year-old Birdie, for their contributions to the LGBTQ+ community during pride month.

According to Philipps' Instagram, Birdie single handedly collected hundreds of their mother's unopened makeup and hygiene products and donated them to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, which provides health and social services to those in the LGBTQ+ community.

"The @lalgbtcenter has been incredibly helpful to my family in the last several years, offering support and education and a sense of community." Philipps posted.

Birdie identifies as "femme presenting non-binary" and uses they them pronouns. They also identify as gay and came out to their family two years ago, Philipps announced on her podcast, Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best in January 2021. "Birdie told us at 10 years old and we immediately…I mean obviously, I knew that Birdie knew," Philipps said in an episode.

Philipps also mentioned in her podcast her acceptance and understanding of Birdie's identity. "You don't get to have jurisdiction over anyone else's body or belief system." She said. For those who may be struggling to understand they/them pronouns, Philipps recommends the book'What's Your Pronoun? Beyond He & She' by Dennis Baron.
