Calling all Lords and Ladies, the Netflix phenomenon, Bridgerton has found its next "diamond of the season", Simone Ashley. She will play Kate Sharma, the love interest of unlucky-in-love Anthony Bridgerton (Johnathan Bailey).
You may know Simone Ashley from the Netflix series, Sex Education, wherein she plays Olivia.
Bridgerton's second season starring Ashley takes after the second book in the written series; The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. Quinn's series follows a new couple in every book, the first being the beloved, yet tumultuous relationship between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Bassett, better known as The Duke (Regé-Jean Page). The show's creator, Chris van Dusen, plans to follow that same pattern with the show. The spotlight will move off of Daphne and The Duke and onto the relationship of Anthony and Kate.
Ashley's character is London's new face, Netflix calling her "a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included." (Twitter).
