Black Voices To Take Over White A-Lister Instagram Accounts For #ShareTheMicNow Campaign

Black activists and stars are set to take over white A-lister Instagram accounts to promote Black Lives Matter.

Celebrities and prominent figures continue to do their part for the Black Lives Matter movement as the #ShareTheMicNow campaign is set to take place on June 10. The online event will provide a large platform for black actresses, activists, businesswomen, and writers to empower and magnify voices of black people to the world.

Promoting Black Voices to Millions of People

The idea for the campaign came from Endeavor CMO Bozoma Saint John, fashion designer Stacey Bendet, and bestselling authors Luvvie Ajayi Jones and Glennon Doyle. Together, they created this campaign in response to nationwide protests that were sparked by police brutality and the systemic racism that still exists in the country. These women stated their four main goals for the campaign:

"To form a social media campaign that magnifies Black women's lives and stories. To form relationships among Black women and white women - so that our future activism is born from relationships. To create a network of disruptors who know and trust each other. To create action that could make change."

Among the line-up of A-listers participating are Academy award winners Julia Roberts, Hillary Swank, and Gwyneth Paltrow. The three actresses will be part of 46 total white women who are giving their platform away to 46 black women for one day. The total audience from all 46 A-listers includes over 300 million followers.
