With the VMAs this past Sunday and the MET Gala on Monday, the 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards will cap off a busy week in entertainment. Within the highly anticipated award show, the race for Best Limited Series category is neck and neck.
The Primetime Emmys this year will feature great competition within categories, and the Limited Series category is no different with nominated shows I May of Destroy You, Mare of Easttown, The Queen's Gambit, The Underground Railroad, and WandaVision. We were able to catch up with cast members from both Mare of Eastown and WandaVision and chat about their roles, working on critically acclaimed projects, and more.
Turning the MCU on its head, WandaVision premiered on Disney Plus to critical acclaim. Combining elements of traditional Marvel canon and brand new lure, the series is nominated for 23 awards. Emma Caulfield, who plays Sarah Proctor on the show, tells us about starring in the MCU:
"Going into something like Marvel, it's a built in audience. There's the pressure of "Oh, God. I don't want to make any fan boys mad or fan girls..."
Tune in Sunday to see how many awards WandaVision brings home to the MCU. (See below for details on the first Emmy win for Marvel Studios)
Next up, Mare of Easttown on HBO puts stars Kate Winslet in a new light. The star plays a detective in a small Pennsylvania town who is struggling with a heap of personal problems, all while solving a murder.
The show became an instant hit for the network, earning 16 nominations at this year's Emmys. Mackenzie Lansing, who plays Brianna, spoke to us about the mentoring nature Kate Winslet has on set:
She (Kate Winslet) takes her role as not only the lead but producer very seriously and she has this sort of mentoring energy on set. She did that for a lot of the young actors, me included. So it was really amazing."Mare of Easttown will look to capitalize on their 16 nominations this Sunday.
