Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up once again for a new movie!
The two stars will be working together on an upcoming movie, which will be the true-life story of former Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Affleck will direct, write, co-star, and produce the untitled sports marketing movie, while Damon will star, write and produce. Mandalay Pictures, the banner run by Jason Michael Berman and Peter Guber, will produce as well.
Damon will portray Vaccaro while Affleck plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight. The story centers around Nike's longshot effort to sign rising superstar basketball player Michael Jordan to its shoe company in the mid-eighties.
According to a report by Variety,
"The film will follow Vaccaro's conquest and introduce audiences to Jordan's parents, in particular his powerful and dynamic mother, as well as former coaches, advisors, friends, and those close to Jordan."
Vaccaro's story was previously the topic of ESPN's 30 for 30 documentary "Sole Man." His campaign to sign Jordan for Nike led to a very lucrative partnership that has turned Nike into the multi-billion dollar company it is today and Jordan into the wealthiest athlete ever.
Affleck and Damon won an Oscar for writing "Good Will Hunting" in 1998. Last year, the actors teamed up in Ridley Scott's 'The Last Duel.' The duo co-produced and co-starred in the project alongside Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, and Harriet Walter. They also also co-wrote the script alongside Nicole Holofcener.
The new untitled project will hail from Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports, and Mandalay Pictures.
