SPOILERS AHEAD! Last night's episode of The Bachelorette included budding love, and fallen petals. It's hometown week!
Hometown dates are on of the most highly anticipated weeks in the bachelor's show format. It's the week the leading man or lady travels to the homes of the last remaining contestants in order to meet their families and a get a sense of what their forever life would look like.
Due to the unique circumstances of the global pandemic, hometown dates had to be altered. Few close family members of the contestants were tested, quarantined, and flown to the resort where they could safely be introduced to bachelorette Tayshia Adams.
Before doing so, she and each of her suitors went on mock themed dates to pay homage to their native cities.
Ivan, who hails from Palm Beach, chose a cooking lesson for their lovely afternoon, He explained the health of his father prevented his family from traveling during this time. Though his brother made a surprise appearance which made Tayshia only the second girl Ivan has introduced to his family.
Brendan channeled his inner Milford, MA, and treated Tayshia to a homemade carnival. They played games while joined by Brendan's niece. More of his family members joined in later to meet Tayshia and introduce her to the clan. His older brother and his wife were present which meant a lot in the absence of his late father.
Zac's date was a silly but picturesque recreation of an afternoon in New York City. As a native New Yorker, Zac is a pro when it comes to grabbing bagel and hailing a cab: all things Tayshia will need to learn how to do should she move to live with him. You can watch the segment of their imaginative date below!
Ben being an LA boy, planned out an afternoon of rollerblading to the beach complete with a pitstop to get their caricatures drawn. Though things went well, in the end...he couldn't drum up the courage to tell Tayshia his true feelings. Immediately after she departed from the date, he realized he should have told her he was in love with her.
In the end, Ivan, Brendan, and Zac all received roses and will continue on to next week's episode...leaving Ben having to say goodbye.
Upon saying goodbye, Ben remained collected when explaining his feelings. He confessed:
"I wanted to marry her. She was gonna be my wife. The mother of my children- all these things."
Tayshia told cameras it wasn't what she had envisioned happening either:
"This is not how I thought it was going to end with Ben. Because I really truly, I really did consider Ben as who I could end up with at the end of this."
She can only hope that she's made the right decision as she moves into the next week with the three remaining men.
Next week's episode is the all-important fantasy suite episode which allows each finalist a night with Tayshia away from the cameras. What happens in the fantasy doesn't always stay in the fantasy suite and has been known to made or break things last minute.
