And Just Like That fans couldn't help but wonder why Steve Brady doesn't seem to be thriving in HBO Max's Sex and The City sequel. Viewers have taken to Twitter to argue in favor of Steve, pointing out that he hasn't had the chance to properly communicate with Miranda amidst her affair.

Executive producers Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky, who both also wrote for SATC, revealed to Vanity Fair that they knew Miranda's affair would be divisive, and it definitely has been. Many viewers have shared their disapproval of Miranda hooking up with Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), while Steve is kept entirely in the dark.

Zuritsky said,

"We didn't set out to make virtuous characters necessarily. Even beloved people have crises. Even morally, generally wonderful people make not necessarily admirable or virtuous choices. But they do them anyway because they're going through something, or they're working through a crisis."

Rottenberg added,

"But Miranda's journey is representing another reality out there, which a lot of people go through—the reevaluations and transitions in life. Grown couples grow apart, and people come to epiphanies about what their spouse is or isn't fulfilling for them. Miranda's story was very representative of a certain path that a lot of women find themselves on."

Zuritsky explained,

"We love Steve," dubnking theories that the writers have been "holding a grudge" against the character. "We are really invested in the Steve-ness of him. He's so full of life, and the Steves out there are good guys."

The writers also addressed Miranda and Steve's relationship as we advance and whether they'll have an actual conversation about Miranda's affair and the state of their marriage.

Zuritsky assured, "You're going to get that scene."
