Ally Sheedy Talks New Role As Mother To A "Basket Case" On 'Single Drunk Female'

Ally Sheedy Talks New Role As Mother To A "Basket Case" On 'Single Drunk Female' | Celebrity Page
With a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Single Drunk Female is flipping the script with Ally Sheedy taking care of a "basket case."

Starring Ally Sheedy and Sofia Black-D'Elia, Single Drunk Female follows an overbearing mother as she's tasked to help her daughter after she leaves rehab.

Most famous for her role in the Breakfast Club , Sheedy opened up about what it's like to now play the mother in a coming of age story.

"Starting over and having to recalibrate---this happens to everybody at various points."

The show follows a young woman (D'Elia) who has to move back in with her mother (Sheedy) after returning from rehab. It's a dark comedy that handles heavy topics such as addiction and relationships.

"That was kind of the biggest challenge for me. Maintaining that tone and doing it honestly. We're riding a really fine line," Black-D'Elia said.

Both are excited for the project and emphasize the importance of its themes. Sheedy believes the world is ready for a show of this nature.

"These are the right times for this kind of show. Things are messy and they're challenging, and rethinking relationships [has] gone on with a lot of people, especially because of the times."

Single Drunk Female airs Thursday nights on Freeform and streaming next day on Hulu.
