Emmy Award winner Alexis Bledel joins us in this edition of our #SeeHER Spotlight to share where season four of Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale" finds her character and how the quality of the female cast sets the tone.
Alexis Bledel is no stranger to female driven stories having basically jump-started her acting career as Rory Gilmore in the popular television series "Gilmore Girls." The series, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino featured Lauren Graham and Alexis as a mother and daughter who's unique relationship is the nucleus of the story. "Gilmore Girls" had a seven year run on The WB and The CW from 2000 through 2007. A fan favorite, the show was revived for a four episode mini-series in 2016 as "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" by the CW which picked up the story ten years after the original series closed out. Alexis has since starred in female-centric roles in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2."
No surprise then to find Alexis lending her talents to a study of women rising above tyrannical circumstances in the dystopian futuristic land of Gilead in one of Hulu's most watched series, "The Handmaid's Tale." Alexis won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series in 2017 and her role was expanded the following season. She spoke with us about her character's evolution in season four...
"The character was just amazing even in the first episode, you know, they gave her so much to do."
"The Handmaid's Tale" is available for streaming on Hulu. Keep your eye out for Alexis in the recently announced third installment of "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3!"
