The 49th annual Daytime Emmy Award Show was held this past Friday at the Pasadena Civic Center. Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, the Co-Hosts of Entertainment Tonight, came together to host this year’s in-person awards.

Here were some of the biggest takeaways from the event:

For Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, "General Hospital" was declared the winner. The soap opera began airing in 1963 and contains 59 seasons. The show alsowon Outstanding Directing Team for a Drama Series for the third time in a row and also had winners for both supporting actor categories, including Kelly Thiebaud as Dr. Britt Westbourne and Jeff Kober for his role as Cyrus Renault.

Upon receiving her award, Thiebaud called out her brother,

“I cannot believe this. I am so shocked,” she said. “My brother, when I first started acting, he followed my work and he’s like, ’You’re not that good.' So thank you for giving me something to rub in his face.”

Nicholas Chavez won for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series.

He accepted his award by saying,

“Just a little over a year ago I was selling cars in a little beach town in Florida. I always had the love and support of my family, but none of us had ever dreamed I'd be up on this stage.”

"The Kelly Clarkson Show" on SYNDICATED also won multiple awards Friday night, including Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host as well as Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host. In addition, the "The Kelly Clarkson Show" won five other awards for different categories of back-stage production on the show.

For the Memoriam segment, the award show welcomed Michael Bolton, who received a standing ovation for his performance of “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You.”
