Wolfgang Puck is a culinary legend in more ways than one. From signature recipes to high profile clientele, the star is opening up on his journey in a new documentary.
The original celebrity chef is excited to invite audiences into his world.
"Now you're going see how my life really unfolded... how much adversity I had as a kid. I want young people and grown-up people to see that adversity can be turned into something really positive if you believe in yourself. if you work really hard and you set a goal," Puck said.
Puck, who is celebrating his 72nd birthday on July 8th, moved to the United States 48 years ago at the age of 24.
Nine years later, Puck opened his first restaurant on the sunset strip called Spago. The star was motivated to succeed by the disapproval of his stepfather, who told him he would never amount to anything.
With every accomplishment, he proved his stepfather wrong. Over the years, Puck has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement, and much more. Plus, people around the world dive into culinary masterpieces at multiple fine dining establishments run by Puck.
Director David Gelb also praised Wolfgang as a revolutionary celebrity chef.
"Wolfgang broke through for chefs in a way that had never been seen before and he kind of led this charge of making the chef... the face of the restaurant," Gelb said.
