New Documentary 'Adrienne' Honors Late Filmmaker Adrienne Shelly

New Documentary 'Adrienne' Honors Late Filmmaker Adrienne Shelly | Celebrity Page

The tragic story of a talented woman is told in this heartfelt biographical film.

The new HBO Max documentary Adrienne celebrates the life and work of Adrienne Shelly.

In her work as an actress and filmmaker, Shelly has always put women at the center of her stories such as Waitress. Sadly, she was murdered in 2006, before being able to witness the movie's (and subsequent Broadway shows') success.

But perhaps the most important detail concerning the documentary is who's directing it: Shelly's husband, Andy Ostroy, who shared the most poignant traits his late wife possessed:

"She was exceptionally bright, she was incredibly funny...but she was also incredibly kind and generous," Ostroy said.

The film also sheds new light on Shelly's tragic murder, and includes an interview with the killer:

"When you make a biographical film about somebody's life, you can't ignore their death..." Ostroy said.

Adrienne, the documentary on Shelly's life as a mother, wife and artist is available now on HBO Max.
