One of the most prolific actresses of our generation, Viola Davis, is releasing an autobiography about her life.

The memoir is being published through HarperOne, an imprint of HarperCollins publishers, and chronicles her difficult childhood, her struggles with being discriminated against due to her race, and her journey into the acting world.

Davis won both a Tony in 2010 for Best Actress in a Play and an Oscar in 2016 for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Maxson in the play and film Fences. She also won an Emmy in 2015 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series as Annalise Keating in How to Get Away With Murder.

"I believe that our stories, and the courage to share them, is the most powerful empathetic tool we have," Davis said in a statement regarding her memoir. "This is my story."

"Viola Davis is a powerful truth teller — through her work on stage and screen, as well as in her life," HarperOne president Judith Curr told The Associated Press. "I'm looking forward to working with her on a book that powerfully reveals the risk and danger for a Black woman living in the fullness of her talents and gifts — and the reward and freedom that comes with it."

The book, titled "Finding Me" is scheduled to be released on April 19th, 2022.
