CBS announced the reality competition series Tough As Nails has been renewed for season two.
Emmy Award winning producer Phil Keoghan created the show with producing partner Louise Keoghan. Phil Keoghan, Louise Keoghan, and Anthony Carbone are executive producers.
The series premiered and was a success for its key demos averaging a solid 4.23 million viewers during the summer based on the August 9th Nielsen ratings. Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming at CBS Entertainment stated in a press release:
"TOUGH AS NAILS stands out with its unique look and positive, heartfelt competitive spirit that showcases the strength, grit and determination of remarkable hardworking men and women,
Sherman also commented and thanked Keoghan on the show's success:
"Under Phil Keoghan's deft touch, the series has lived up to its name as a real summer workhorse for us, and we look forward to a second season with another extraordinary group of competitors."
In July, our own Ricky Cornish spoke with Keoghan:
"I always loved the idea of celebrating real people in the real world that are real tough. We'll take them to farm, we'll take them to a factory, we'll take them to a place where people do these jobs everyday. We'll throw a fireman out on the farm, and see how he copes with doing a job on the farm,"
The series recognizes everyday Americans who workout on the job rather than in a gym. Each constant is tested on their strength, endurance, agility, and mental resilience in a series of challenges. Constants face elimination until a winner is selected, but are then given the chance to win additional prizes in team competitions throughout the rest of the series redefining what it means to be tough as people come in all shapes and sizes.
Casting began for the next season, look for the finale on Wednesday, September 2nd.
