The Netflix films, which have become fan favorites, were originally books written by Jenny Han. The first movie tells the story of Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and her secret love letters being sent out to all her crushes over the years. One of those letters gets sent to Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) and life becomes extremely different for her since. The second film, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, takes a deeper look into Lara Jean's relationship with Peter post the letters, as well as a surprise from another receiver of them.
Condor and Centineo partnered with Favored Nations for the table read. All the money raised will be helping the fight against racial inequality, as well as overall inequality in the country. There were special guests featured prior to the table read to educate viewers about the ongoing issues in our country.
In a joint interview with Entertainment Tonight, Condor and Centineo spoke about why they wanted to do something like this at a time as crucial as this one in the world. Condor shared:
"People follow you because they believe in you, so you have to show them what you believe in."
Centineo also responded by saying:
"A lot of people were just asking themselves like how can we help and how can we do our part to help and what I can do to help."
The table read went live on June 30th at 3pm on Lana Condor's Youtube Channel and featured their favorite scenes from both films, as well as a glimpse into the script of the third movie.
