Tiger Woods' February crash caught the world by storm with fans worried for the golfer's life. Now, the athlete is in recovery and his case is officially completed with the cause of the crash being excessive speeding.
What We Knew
When news broke of the athlete's near fatal crash, all the world knew were the logistics of when and where the incident occurred. On February 23, Woods was in Los Angeles set to host his PGA tournament for the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club.
From there ESPN describes,
"he struck a raised median in Rolling Hills Estates, just outside Los Angeles. The SUV crossed through two oncoming lanes and uprooted a tree on a downhill stretch"
Official Cause Per L.A. County Sheriff's Department
Since then, news of the crash was sparse and inconsistent as the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was further investigating. Now, the case is completed with the cause being "excessive speeding."
According to the Sheriff's department, Woods was driving at around 85 mph in a 45 mph speed limit area. There was no evidence of impairment or distracted driving, according to the Sheriff's office and the case is now closed.

While recovering in Florida from major leg injuries due to the crash, Woods released a statement thanking the first responders who helped him on scene.
Though fans are glad the golfer is recovering, there are many calling Woods out, due to the fact that he was not given a single traffic citation after driving 40 mph over the speed limit.
As things wrap up, we wish a safe recovery for Tiger Woods and his family.
