The dawn is coming!
When The Weeknd wiped his Instagram completely, fans knew something was up. Then, at 10:51pm ET on Sunday night, he tweeted out: "f*ck it... IT STARTS TONIGHT"

He currently only has three posts up on Instagram including one video that was also shared to Twitter in which a synth melody and some vocalization can be heard. Fans were sent into a frenzy. Many expected him to drop a song on streaming services at midnight, but alas, all they got was a snippet. His fanbase has only grown stronger since his fourth studio album, After Hours took the world by storm. Fans have been waiting over a year and a half for The Weeknd's fifth studio album. When The Weeknd said "it starts tonight" he was presumably referring to his album rollout.
In other news, The Weeknd will also be gracing the cover of the first ever global issue of GQ Magazine. The cover features the phrase "a celebration of the universal language of music". Perhaps this issue of GQ will provide some more insight on the release of the new album. It wouldn't be surprising if a single were to drop later this week. However, only time will tell.
