The Critics Choice Super Awards will be honoring the films and shows of sci-fi, horror, and more and its nominees have been at the top of these genres this year.
The Critics Choice Super Awards will be recognizing the most popular, fan-obsessed genres across both television and movies. These genres include, but are not limited to: Superhero, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Horror, Action, and Animation.
Joey Berlin, the CEO of Critics Choice Association stated,
"What a celebration this is going to be! We are so pleased to be spotlighting the brilliant work of so many artists who bring to life some of the most engaging and beloved movies and television series!"
This Year's Hosts
Actress and writer Dani Fernandez will be co-hosting the awards with writer, director, and podcaster Kevin Smith. Berlin also highlighted his excitement of the pair in his statement regarding the awards.
"We are certain that Kevin and Dani will serve as tremendous hosts, who, as fans themselves, will bring energy and enthusiasm to the stage, as we honor these genres that so often go overlooked and underappreciated."
Legacy Award Given to the 'Star Trek' Franchise
Right around the 55th anniversary of the beloved Star Trek franchise, they will also be receiving Critics Choice Super Awards first ever Legacy Award for its brilliant work in science fiction and its ability to span over decades, while maintaining one of the strongest fanbases.
The award will be accepted by Star Trek's Patrick Stewart and Star Trek: Discovery's Sonequa Martin-Green.
Film Nominees
Leading this year's film nominees is Hulu's Palm Springs. In an epic battle, Hulu broke the record for the highest deal at Sundance Film Festival for the film starring Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti.
Palm Springs is nominated for Best Science Fiction/ Fantasy Movie, Best Actor in a Science Fiction/ Fantasy Movie for Andy Samberg, Best Actor in a Science Fiction/ Fantasy Movie and Best Villain in a Movie for J.K. Simmons, and Best Actress in a Science Fiction/ Fantasy Movie for Cristin Milioti.
