The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is making significant changes. It is working to diversify its membership and leadership. Now, Oscar nominated filmmaker Ava DuVernay is among the new board members elected to the Academy.
Meanwhile, Ava herself, is also a part of the new organization: LEAP: Law Enforcement Accountability Project. A direct action disrupting the code of silence around the police abuse and murder of Black people.
