Gymnast Sunisa Lee Wins Gold For Team USA

Sunisa Lee

Everything’s coming up Suni at Tokyo 2020!

On Thursday morning, the women’s all-around competition took place at the Olympics. Sunisa Lee won gold for Team USA scoring 57.433 points, just 0.135 more points than her Brazilian opponent Rebeca Andrade. Lee particularly shined in the category that is considered to be her specialty: the uneven bars. Lee received a 15.4 which is the highest mark that anyone has seen in the Tokyo Olympics so far. This individual win comes just a few days after Lee’s teammate, Simone Biles, announced her withdrawal from the competition.

On Wednesday, Lee shared an Instagram post that featured two photos of her and Biles with a heartfelt caption. The caption sites Biles as “a role model and someone [Lee] looks up to every single day.” Biles commented “my heart” with 3 white heart emojis. The two had just competed in the Team Final where they walked away with silver medals. Fans flooded the comments with well wishes and many of them were sending good luck to Lee in the upcoming All-Around individual competition. Well, it looks like their luck paid off as Lee went on to win the gold medal.

Despite the immense pressure, Suni Lee stepped up to the plate and delivered an outstanding performance to make her country proud.
