After publicly showing off her baby bump for the past few months, Sophie turner has officially confirmed the news of her pregnancy.
Sophie, who stars on the cover of Elle UK's June 2022 issue, sat down with the magazine to discuss motherhood and the latest edition to the family.
"We're so excited to be expanding the family," she said. "It's the best blessing ever."
The couple, who began dating in 2016, and have been married since 2019, have already welcomed their first child, daughter Willa Jones, in July 2020.
"It's what life is about for me—raising the next generation," she continued. "The greatest thing in life is seeing my daughter go from strength to strength."
The news of a second baby had first been confirmed by multiple sources in March, however, the pair chose not to comment until now.
Sophie seemingly decided to confirm the news through her stylish bump highlighting outfits instead, including a white crop top and sweats which showed off the start of her growing bump back in February on a day out in L.A. and more recently, a fiery red pleated evening gown for the Vanity Fair Oscars party red carpet.
On May 2, the couple stepped out together at the 2022 Met Gala in NYC, with Sophie wearing a black gothic jeweled dress from Louis Vuitton's Resort 2016 collection, once again showcasing her bump, and Joe rocking a white tail jacket and black-and-white lace top from the French fashion house's spring-summer 2022 collection.
And while the pair commanded the red carpet, Sophie revealed she is cautious of doing too many public appearances.
"I'm very protective of the life we've built," she told Elle UK. "Every time Joe and I do a red carpet together, we make sure it's for the right reason and makes sense for our careers. You never want to market yourself as a celebrity couple. It's not that cool."
Turner also noted that she wants to shield their daughter from life in the spotlight, saying,
"I know what it can do to your mental health to be in this industry, and to be photographed every day and have the comments. It's not something I want her to deal with unless she says, 'This is what I want to do.' "We're quite strict about that."
While Sophie enjoys her life in America she hopes to eventually settle down in her home country of England one day, however, it might "take quite a bit of convincing" to get her husband on board, the actress admitted.
"I'm slowly dragging my husband back," she said. "I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family. And also for my daughter. I would love her to get the education and school life that I was so lucky to have. "England would ideally be the final destination."
