Perfectly fitting of this year's spooky season, Days of Our Lives is bringing back a chilling storyline to haunt viewers who remember it from the '90s. We sat down with the Editorial Director of Soap Opera Digest Stephanie Sloane to get an inside preview into what fans are about to get hooked on this week.
This Halloween, Days of Our Lives is revisiting the shocking plot from when Marlena Evans became possessed after Stefano DiMera hypnotized her. Originally intended to fall in love through hypnosis, Marlena instead ended up with a companion she never anticipated--the devil. Nearly 30 years later, and Marlena's relationship with the devil is certainly scarier than anyone could have foreseen in 1994.
Stephanie Sloane interviewed Deidre Hall, who played Marlena during her previous possession and is continuing to play her character now in 2021. According to Sloane, Hall revealed that she was a little concerned revisiting this plot only because they had already done it before.

Regardless, Hall told Sloane that there's still a bunch of twists and turns in store for viewers, and that above all, she is most excited for new fans of Days of our Lives to watch this story unfold since they missed it when it initially aired in the 90's. With better special effects thanks to modern-day technology, fans can expect to see Marlena look more frightening than even before.
Hall also shared with Sloane that the best part of the storyline for her is getting to share so much screen time with other Days veterans, and her real-life friends, Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes.
Sloane also had the opportunity to speak with seasoned actor, Ted King, about his exciting return to the soaps world in the latest segment from the podcast, Dishing with Digest.
King told Sloane that he was 'so happy' to start a role playing as Jack Finnegan on the Bold and the Beautiful, especially after watching all of his soaps coworkers getting to stay on set while everything else was shut down due to the Pandemic. King also shared with Sloane that he was happy to see social distancing regulations had loosened up by the time he returned to the B&B set.
For King, getting to work closer alongside costars was a welcomed transition that allowed him to get closer to new actors and actresses, like Kimberlin Brown. According to King, he and Kimberlin are having a great time getting better acquainted on set.
