9055 Soap Opera Digest

Exciting casting announcements from this week's issue of Soap Opera Digest!

This week's issue of Soap Opera Digest caught up with some big names.Editorial Director Stephanie Sloane has the latest on The Young and the Restless.

Eric Braeden tells Soap Opera Digest that his current storyline is "one of the best he's had in years." He also shockingly revealed that the previous showrunners wanted to fire him and his costar, Melody Thomas Scott. Luckily for all of us, that didn't happen.

Braeden has recently celebrated his eightieth birthday, but not to worry--he says he has no plans to retire anytime soon. He jokes that he's too young and restless to call it quits yet, and that he loves his job too much.

In other news, Vanessa Williams is returning to Days of our Lives as Valerie! Though just for a handful of episodes, it also marks the end of Melissa Reeve's appearance as Jennifer.

Meanwhile, big news from General Hospital this week as Priscilla Garita, known to Sunset Beach fans as Gabby, will fill a temporary role at as Harmony. Unfortunately, her entrance marks the exit of another character, Sean. Actor Sean Blakemore has announced he will be leaving GH for "other obligations."
