Women Of Color Take Charge In New Series 'Run The World'

Women Of Color Take Charge In STARZ New Series 'Run the World' | Celebrity Page

Our #SeeHER Spotlight features the incredible cast of STARZ's new show, Run The World, and how their vision of female empowerment is coming to light!

Who run the world?

The new series features four women of color careers and love lives in New York City, while relying on their friendship as a source of strength and comfort.

Focusing on multi-dimensional representation of strong black women, the show embraces authentic representation as a critical component to the story and a necessary message that needs to be conveyed.

"Black women are seen as just one way and we are showing the diversity of who we are as a people and the diversity of black culture in general," Amber Stevens West said.

"It's nice to be able to showcase these stories and talk about issues from a black perspective in a way that's really light, but also relatable to all different types of people," Andrea Bordeaux said.

"It's so right on time for us to see black women be approachable and be all of these things that we see in culture, but we never really get to see in real life form," Bresha Webb said.

"It's rare that as a black woman, that you get to portray characters that are this authentic and are this dimensional and this complex. It means the world," Corbin Reid said.

While the women of the cast were excited to be representing Black women in such positive way, the men were equally inspired by that representation.

"It's fun to be a good man in a women empowerment show," Stephen Bishop said.

"It's refreshing to have a powerful, ambitious, mutually supportive black couple, being shown on TV in this way," Tosin Morohunfola said.

"It inspires me, and I'm in it," Jay Walker said.

Run The World premieres airs Sunday nights on STARZ.
