Actress steps up to produce and star in Apple's newest project.

Actress Rooney Mara has recently been set to star as Audrey Hepburn in a new biopic about her life and career. Mara, best known for her roles in films such as the Social Network and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, will be portraying Hepburn in a drama set during her Breakfast at Tiffany's days, directed by Call Me By Your Name's Luca Guadagnino.

Details on the other cast members and even the plot are still under wraps. In fact, the project's secrets are so closely guarded, Hepburn's own son, Sean Ferrer, was not even aware of its existence. He is still in support of Mara, who is also producing the project. He states,

"Rooney is a delight. Sounds like there is a lot of love there."

Ferrer, who published a children's book about his mother's life, said his intention was to show "what a remarkable person" she was, and that he wanted her story as he knew it to be told.

While Ferrer supports the project and Mara, a few fans have expressed disappointment over the casting. Some on Twitter claim that Emily in Paris star Lily Collins would have been a better choice, and that Mara "beat her to the punch" by producing the biopic. Still, many are voicing support, claiming that just because someone looks the part, doesn't mean they're the right actor for the part.

With a talented lead and director at the helm, and the support of Ferrer, fans of Hepburn should be nothing but excited for the new project, which is sure to honor the life and legacy of one of Hollywood's most beloved actresses of all time. As Ferrer states,

"I don’t think we can ever fill those shoes, but we’re noticing little footsteps in telling her story."
