Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman Reunite for Lifetime Movie
Warner Bros

It's a Reba reunion!

New Lifetime movie "The Hammer" has officially cast Reba McEntire to star alongside "Reba" alumnus, Melissa Peterman. The film is inspired BY the real-life story of traveling circuit judge, Kim Wanker.

"The Hammer" follows outspoken lawyer, Kim Wheeler (McEntire), after she is appointed Judge of the fifth District of Nevada, becoming one of the last travelling judges in America. After a reigning judge dies under "suspicious circumstances," Wheeler is left in charge of a much larger circuit---a desolate strip of land between Las Vegas and Reno.

With her "no-nonsense" attitude towards justice, Wheeler earns the nickname "the Hammer." As investigations into the judge's death continue, Wheeler's sister, Kris (Peterman), becomes the prime suspect while working at a brothel. The two must work together to clear Kris' name without jeopardizing Kim's career.

The movie also stars Rex Linn as Bart Crawford, a mysterious cowboy. Kay Shioma Metchie plays a bailiff, Vicky, Wheeler's right-hand-man.

"The Hammer" is McEntire's second film with Lifetime, this time as an executive producer, alongside Stan Spry, Eric Woods, Anthony Fankhauser and Steven St. Arnaud. Jeff Beesley a directing the script by Karen Wyscarver and Sanford Golden.

McEntire and Peterman previously worked together on the series "Reba," where McEntire played a single mother whose husband left her for his dental hygienist, played by Peterman. The show ran from 2001 to 2007 for six seasons, the first five through Warner Brothers and the last on the CW.

McEntire and Peterman also co-starred on CMT’s "Working Class" and Freeform’s "Baby Daddy," as well as having recurring roles on CBS’ "Young Sheldon."

No release date has been revealed for "The Hammer."
