Ray Liotta Dead at 67

Netflix, Marriage Story

Ray Liotta has passed away at 67 years old.

The “Goodfellas” star died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, where he was shooting an upcoming film, “Dangerous Waters,” Deadline reports.

Liotta is survived by his 23-year-old daughter, Karsen, and fiancé, Jacy Nittolo.

The Emmy winner first made waves on the big screen in 1986, when he starred in the dark comedy “Something Wild," as Melanie Griffith’s psychotic ex-boyfriend. He was nominated for a Golden Globe and was cast in “Field of Dreams” a few years later.

In 1990, Liotta landed his most notable role as "Henry Hill" in Martin Scorsese’s iconic "mobster" film “Goodfellas.”

Actress Lorraine Bracco, who played Liotta's wife in film, shared her condolences on Twitter Thursday, writing,

“I am utterly shattered to hear this terrible news about my Ray. I can be anywhere in the world & people will come up & tell me their favorite movie is Goodfellas. Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same…Ray Liotta.”

Since "Goodfellas," Liotta has taken on a wide range of roles in films like "Blow," "Cop Land," "Narc," "The Place Beyond the Pines," and "No Escape." In 2019, he appeared as a divorce lawyer in "Marriage Story," which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. Most recently, he starred in "The Sopranos" prequel "The Many Saints of Newark" and the Amazon Prime series "Hanna."
