The Hulu hit series is getting it's much deserved praise this year!

The sitcom Ramy staring Ramy Yousef, follows a first-generation Egyptian-American balancing the dynamic between his religion, culture, family and daily millennial in New Jersey.

The Nomination

Many are comparing Ramy to Aziz Ansari's Master of None in the way that it's a comedy/drama about the intersection of culture and just typical dating and personal life stories. The show was nominated for two Emmys: Lead Actor in a Comedy (Ramy Youssef) and Supporting Actor in a Comedy (Mahersala Ali). Many think the show deserved a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, producer and star Ramy Youssef said:

"This is a show about an Arab Muslim guy from New Jersey who jerks off too much and we got three Emmy nominations. I mean, that's a lot, that's so wild. There's so many more stories that that could be told so it excites me for the bigger picture, one that doesn't even include me."
