Snow White and the Seven Dwarfsis a classic Disney film and Zegler faced some criticism for Disney's choice to cast a hispanic actor in the role. She answered the hateful comments on Twitter but has since deleted the post. Overall, the announcement has been received very positively and fans are even more excited to see Zegler as Maria this year.
Director Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) is very excited to have her onboard:
"Rachel's extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale"
The cast is sure to be stacked and Zegler's career is going to skyrocket in these next few years partially because of this casting. The production team is also stacked with Marc Platt producing the remake and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul writing new music.
Pasek and Paul are some of the most exciting additions because they have a Grammy, Tony, Oscar, and Golden Globe as songwriters. They were the geniuses behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen, and the live-action Aladdin.
We could not be more excited for Rachel Zegler's upcoming stardom and the live-action Snow White! Be sure to keep up to date with this news here.
