Queen Elizabeth Set to Open Parliament & Updates on Prince Philip's Funeral

Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip

Queen Elizabeth will go back to work after Prince Philip's funeral and plans to open Parliament next month.

The Queen is currently on an eight-day period of mourning, following her husband's death and will go back to her duties after the official 30-day period for the Royal Family.

On May 11th, Queen Elizabeth will attend the event in the House of Lords accompanied by her son Prince Charles. It is sitll unclear as to whether the Queen will be physically present for the event, both because of the pandemic and the loss for her husband.

Prince Harry has also arrived alone in London's Heathrow Airport for Prince Philip's funeral. This is the first time Prince Harry is back in Britain after officially leaving the Royal title and the recent shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey, where accuses of racism against the Royal Family were made, alongside his wife Meghan Markle.

Prince Philip's funeral will take place on April 17th and will be followed by a national one minute of silence and only 30 people, including his family of course, will be able to attend. Social distancing and masks requirement will make the funeral very different from any other royal one and Prince William will soon reunite with his brother at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

In an heartfelt Instagram post, The Duke of Cambridge remembered his grandfather, writing:

"My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation [...] I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job."

Although there's undoubtedly tension between Harry and the Royal Family, any resentment seems to be temporarily cast aside for Prince Philip's funeral.
