If you were in Las Vegas during the height of the pandemic, it felt like another planet. The strip: empty. Casinos that had never been closed: boarded up with plywood (because they don't have locks on the doors). But now, Sin City is slowly coming back to life. And it took a major step forward, with the reopening of the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
Anthony Anderson Does The Honors
.@anthonyanderson helped us commemorate the occasion ✨ Welcome back to @PHVegas! Our doors are officially open for… https://t.co/aXUxHIPnbW— Caesars Entertainment (@Caesars Entertainment) 1602176688
If you're going to reopen a property with the word, Hollywood, in the name...you need to have some Hollywood flare. The Emmy-nominated star of black'ish, Anthony Anderson, provided that. Anderson (in a mask) helped officially reopen the resort.
The opening was done in accordance with directives from Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak and the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Vegas-Style Reopening

Of course there were showgirls at the opening, as well. After all, this is Vegas baby!

Anthony even stopped by Cafe Hollywood for a sweet treat. It's just one of the restaurants that also reopened, along with Gordon Ramsay Burger.
While guests are now welcome to stay in the Planet Hollywood Hotel (weekends only) and to gamble at the Casino (full time), so far there have been no announcements about live entertainment.
"We are overjoyed to welcome our loyal guests and dedicated team members back to Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, the centerpiece of the famous Las Vegas Strip," said Senior Vice President and Planet Hollywood General Manager Jason Gregorec. "Our guests can once again enjoy the unique experiences Planet Hollywood offers, as we continue to emphasize our enhanced health and safety protocols."
Planet Hollywood has hosted some of Vegas' biggest residencies including: Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, The Backstreet Boys, Pitbull and Christina Aguilera. Kelly Clarkson was supposed to start her new residency there in April, but that was postponed due to the pandemic. It remains to be seen if Kelly's shows will be rescheduled in the future.
For now, the Vegas Strip is just happy to have one more important property back open for business.
