Country star Luke Bryan was forced to miss the first live show of American Idolafter testing positive for COVID-19. While we were all sad to see him go, a familiar face was waiting in the dugout!
Last night was the show's first ever live show, and after Bryan announced via Twitter that he would have to miss it. Shortly after, though, the show announced that Paula Abdul would be taking his place.
Abdul spent eight seasons as a judge alongside Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. The three of them were a key factor in the show's early success, and while Bryan is missed, everyone loves a little nostalgia!
Abdul appeared alongside Lionel Richie and Katy Perry as the show went from sixteen contestants to twelve, and we get even closer to crowning a winner for season 19!
