"The truth is that diversity or inclusion is in vogue right now because it makes money. That's a good thing, but I think it's about us as creators of color using it to our benefit as well."
While she's happy to see that Hollywood is embracing historically overlooked projects, talents, and voices, she warns that creators of color need to maintain controlling positions.
"I think the biggest thing is to make sure that we're not kind of being used. I think it's more about ownership and having control over what we're doing."
