One of the most highly anticipated events in the fashion world returns to New York this week despite the coronavirus pandemic.
That's right - New York Fashion Week is still a go, even with coronavirus concerns. Taking place from September 13th-17th, this fashion week will be different from any other - including events filled with face masks and social distancing protocols.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo agreed to continuing the annual tradition of NYFW with strict healthy and safety requirements adhering to the coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately, this means models will be walking on a runway with no audience - not even public figures. However, outdoor events will still be able to seat no more than 50 guests, in which they all must wear a mask and have a temperature check.
Although NYFW looks different this year, many designers are still just as excited for the week to start. Some designers included in fashion week will be Christina Siriano, Badgley Mischka, and Jason Wu.
Delaina Dixon on NYFW
Advocate Channel host Sonia Isabelle talks to Editor-In-Chief of divagalsdaily.com Delaina Dixonabout what fashion trends viewers and fans can expect to see on the runway this year. Dixon shares:
"It's also been a very polarizing year, so we need clothes that bring joy and empathy - and so you're gonna look on the runway and you're gonna see clothes that are less structured, silhouettes aren't going to be so strong and tough."
Despite the struggles The Big Apple has been through in 2020, New York Fashion Week will be a gigantic win for the city.
