To get into the Valentine's Day spirit, Nick Cannon released a new song. The subject of his romantic ballad? None other than his ex-wife, Mariah Carey.

The Masked Singer host dropped his most recent single, Alone, describing it as an ode to Carey. Cannon stated in the press release,

"This is the gospel of my broken soul. This is as raw as it gets."

The song opens with a sample from Carey's 1990 hit, Love Takes Time. Cannon starts by saying he has "nothing but love" for Carey, and doesn't want to make their situation worse, since he knows she has a boyfriend. But he still can't help but add that he'd "trade it all" to have her back.

The lyrics also address some of Cannon's recent controversies, including the news that he has seven children with four separate women, and an eighth on the way. He sings,

"As much as I want you back/ It's probably better where you at. Cause I'm still running the streets / I'm still all in the sheets having babies / Models and singers and actresses saying they pregnant by me / Have to pay $10,000 a week / I take care of my peeps / Now you don't worry about when I creep / You got a man next to you when you sleep."

Cannon has two children with Carey and is working on music for his upcoming mixtape, Raw N B: the Explicit Tape. He says it's his most personal music yet, stating,

"To really cry out for my soul on a lot of these records. It really has been a therapeutic process for me."
